Inspired by the ideas of Swami Vivekananda, Akshay started his work educating students of villages especially in the field of Mathematics
His father Sri Haridas Ramaji Wakudkar was on the deathbed when he asked Akshay, "You are an educated person, why don't you work to educate the rural students!" This inspired Akshay to work in rural area instead of doing private job and earn big salary.
The fear of Mathematics in students is very common phenomena specifically in villages; it is due to lack of memorising the formulas of Mathematics. Fear of Mathematics is so high in the villages that students try to avoid the classes of Mathematics. Even the thought of attending Mathematics class creates panic in these students. One cannot progress in any academic field or any examinations unless one has the basic knowledge of Mathematics. The solution to this severe problem is simple. It is a matter of just memorising the formulas of Mathematics. Then how to memorise the formulas? It is very simple, just read the formulas repeatedly every day. So to remove the fear of Mathematics from students the young boy Sri Akshay Wakudkar started this project called MISSION MATHEMATICS (MM). In Marathi there is a proverb "गणिताच्या अरण्यातून जातांना सूत्रांची बंदूक हाती घ्यावी लागते" it means while going through the jungle of Mathematics one needs the arms in the form of formulas of Mathematics.Read more

Mission Mathematics (MM) is an educational project Started by 25-year-old youth Akshay Haridas Wakudkar. Under this Project, MM Team decorates the blank walls of the street houses, Schools and other Government Buildings with basic mathematical formulas. The project is carried out at places like main squares and playground, etc. which can be easily viewed by people (especially students) in rural areas. It was started in March 2019 and within a short span of one year it is serving more than 300 villages.
The most fearful subject among school students (especially rural) is perhaps mathematics. Our aim is to eradicate that fear and empower the children through visuals, formulas, concepts etc. of mathematics.
A young engineer from Ghosari Village Akshay Wakudkar was inspired by his father late Sri Haridasji Wakudkar to work for rural youth’s empowerment through the path of an education.
We approach the village government authority and discuss the plan with them. After gaining approval, we identify suitable walls of varying sizes. At an average we paint 35 boxes of formulae of an average size (3×3 meter) with good quality decorative paints.
The children are now enjoying the mathematics subject with the help of painted walls. In this crisis period of lockdown where education was the worst hit sector, MM team was serving the rural children in education.
